Here is the Official Preview of today’s big race!
Extract from the Duck Racing page of today’s Shoal Times
Daring Dabbler Goes for 4 in a row!
Today’s race sees the Daring Dabbler attempt to win his fourth straight Shoal Duck Race. So far his rivals have been completely outclassed by this brash, young duck, and unable to stop him winning the first 3 Shoal Duckraces. Ahead of today’s race the Daring Dabbler (or DD as he has taken to calling himself) quacked ‘I am the Greatest – there ain’t no other duck like me!’ to cheers from his rapidly growing female fan club. He has to be a serious contender today.
Today’s other competitors have also been giving their views on today’s race, and they seem more determined than ever to defeat the increasingly arrogant Daring Dabbler. Bluefeathers, the wise and experienced racer, told our reporter that ‘these youngsters think they know it all, but I’ve seen ‘em come and go, I know what it takes to make a true champion’. Our reporter notes that there was a steely determination in Bluefeathers eyes this morning.
Captain Quack was also quick to criticise the Daring Dabbler, as he quacked that ‘I am the true fan favourite’.Captain Quack’s position as fan favourite has been put under threat by the emergence of the Daring Dabbler, but he laughed off suggestions that he had lost the hearts of the Shoal Lake crowd. ‘The fans love me and I love them, this Daring Dabbler is a flash in the pan!’. Another dismal performance today and Captain Quack’s love affair with the Shaol Crowd could be over!
After 3 very poor performances so far, questions have been asked about how committed the Scarlet Mallard really is about the Shoal Duck Race. When questioned this morning the Scarlet Mallard got in quite a flap, furiously denying that she was not taking the race seriously enough. ‘We’ll see if people think I am not taking it seriously after today’s race‘ she furiously quacked. In this mood, it would be foolish to write off the darling of the Shoal Lake.
Quietly going about his practice this morning was the enigmatic Mangebill. This curious character, a newcomer to the race circuit, has performed solidly so far with two second places. Whilst other ducks love the limelight,Mangebill prefers to keep himself to himself, and refused to speak to our reporter this morning. Our reporter did note from afar however that Mangebill looked fit and ready to go, and could well improve on his second place performace yesterday.
Race Verdict:
In what promises to be a fascinating race, our reporter’s selection is the Scarlet Mallard. She was an angry duckthis morning, and goes to the lake with a point to prove! Be sure to place your bets before the race gets underway this afternoon in Shoal.

Crowd go Quackers as Captain Storms to Victory
1st Captain Quack
2nd The Scarlet Mallard
3rd Mangebill
There were scenes of jubilation today down at the Shoal Lake as Captain Quack claimed victory in the Daily DuckRace. The idol of the Shoal crowd was a comfortable winner, and was roared on by his faithful fans all the way. Afterwards Captain Quack was quick to pay tribute to his adoring faithful, quacking ‘I owe this success to them, they have stuck by me through the ups and the downs, both in and out of the lake’.
Although Captain Quack won comfortably in the end, the race was full of incident, and it was not until the final few metres that victory was assured. The 3-time winner the Daring Dabbler led the race in the early stages, and a fourth straight win looked a distinct possibility. Unfortunately for the Daring Dabbler and his legion of female fans his efforts over the last 3 days clearly left him short of energy, and he could not maintain his winning streak. TheDaring Dabbler left the lake with his beak held high however, and he has proven over the last few days he is a force to be reckoned with here.
The Scarlet Mallard raced well, with a much improved showing resulting in a second place finish. The darling of the lake paced herself well and was able to see off all but Captain Quack. After taking the lead from the Daring Dabbler, the Scarlet Mallard maintained a steady pace, and led for most of the race. With just a few metres to go it looked as though she would hold on for victory, until Captain Quack showed a devastating turn of webbed foot to romp home. The Scarlet Mallard was pleased with her race, and reminded the press that she had told them an improved performance was on its way.
Mangebill came home in third place, just overtaking the tiring Daring Dabbler at the finish line. Mangebill can feel unlucky today though, as he was hindered by a egg-straordinary incident half way round the course. Just as he looked set to challenge the leaders a freak current dragged Mangebill to the back of the pack. In spite of this,Mangebill did not give up and was able to finish a creditable third place. Mangebill again refused to speak to the press after the race, and is getting a reputation as a reclusive, enigmatic racer.
The most disappointing performance was that of Bluefeathers. The veteran racer was out of form today, and finished a distant last. Perhaps age is finally catching up with the Old Master as he is known, as this was far from a vintage performance from Bluefeathers. A notoriously sore loser, Bluefeathers left the lake in a furious temper. Journalists had to duck for cover, as this competitor really was spitting feathers.
So as the crowd depart the Shoal Lake the mood is one of joy and delight at the return to form of their hero,Captain Quack. What will happen in tomorrow’s race? Can Bluefeathers conjure up some of his old magic? Will theDaring Dabbler return to form? Will Mangebill cheer up? Find out tomorrow, race time 4:35 PST.

Dazzling Dabbler Back With A Bang!
The Daring Dabbler returned to form in spectacular fashion today with a blistering display of speed at the Shoal Lake, regaining his title from yesterday’s victor Captain Quack. After blaming his defeat yesterday on a dodgy chunk of bread, the Daring Dabbler returned to winning ways in a new record time. ‘I told you I was poisoned, I told you I’d be back – I am Number One!’ squawked the Daring Dabbler as he left the lake.
The race was a very physical, rough affair, and it appeared as though the other ducks decided to hinder Captain Quack as much as possible. Right from the start Bluefeathers smashed into the side of Captain Quack, who was then caught in the eye by Mangebill’s beak. Clearly the other racers have got fed up with Captain Quack’s untouchable status in the Duck Racing World.
The Scarlet Mallard stayed clear of trouble to take second place, racing well and cheered on by her ever growing male fan club. The ‘darling of the lake’ was neveer threatened for second place, holding off Bluefeather’s who finished third.
Mangebill seemed more interested in hurting Captain Quack, and therefore was only ableto finish fourth, just fractionally ahead of the Captain Quack. Mangebill really seems to be coming out of his shell now, telling reporters he ‘didn’t care, at least he had stopped Captain Quack from winning’. This caused riotous cheers from Mangebill’s cult following lakeside.

Quack Back On Track!
Captain Quack took back his crown as king of the Shoal Lake today with victory in one of the most thrilling duckraces of all time, writes Leroy Black. Having been investigated earlier this week by the DRA, Captain Quack was today making headlines for the right reasons with a display of fearless courage. In second place was the unluckyMangebill, who was just pipped by Captain Quack with a dramatic lunge on the line. Captain Quack saluted his fans, quacking ‘The Quack is Back!’
In the most exciting race so far this year, it was the Scarlet Mallard who took the early lead, with Bluefeathersjust in second place. This quickly changed though as the lead changed several times, with each duck leading at least once during the race. With just metres to go it was Mangebill who led from Bluefeathers and the Daring Dabbler, only for Captain Quack to burst through and steal the glory.
Bluefeathers finished third with a much improved performance, and said afterwards he had been nursing a sore beak for the last few days, resulting in poor performance. He said, ‘Now I am back to fitness – I will take my crown back tomorrow!’
The Daring Dabbler and the Scarlet Mallard left the lake wing in wing, and looked very comfortable with each other. This will only add to the speculation that these rivals on the track are anything but out of the lake. Both of them raced well today, but not well enough to stop the imperious Captain Quack from winning.
Mangebill was happy with his effort, and said a win was only a matter of time. He also took time out to thank his fans, saying they are helping him come out of his shell a bit more. Comfortably the most popular duck with the Shoal Lake crowd these days, Mangebill has yet to reward them with a victory. Maybe tomorrow is the day for the ‘Silent Bullet’.

There is a mood of expectation at the Shoal Lake today ahead of the Daily Duck Race. After the excitment of yesterday, who will prevail today?
Captain Quack looked calm in practice, and said he was ready to win. After a couple of solid recent showings he is a definite contender today. Captain Quack appears to have turned down his celebrity lifestyle in recent days to focus on his racing and hopefully for his fans he will get the rewards this afternoon.
Mangebill, fresh from recent success, is another contender for today’s race. His bizarre antics have settled down recently as he has grown more and more popular with the Shoal Lake crowd. As he has become more and more comfortable with his new found fame his racing has improved, and Mangebill will take a lot of beating today.
The Scarlet Mallard will look for her first win today. She quacked that she was feeling confident, and that her new friendship with the Daring Dabbler was helping her in her racing career. Some have suggested she has taken her eye off the ball, but she said this was not true.
The Daring Dabbler on the other hand has gone off the boil since becoming close friends with the Scarlet Mallard. Even Bluefeathers has spoke out, saying ‘the Green Machine has lost his focus’. This comment is sure to fire up the Daring Dabbler for today’s race.
Bluefeathers himself has been consistent, but has lacked the spark needed to take victory. It seems he has now taken to trying to rile opponents rather than concentrate on his own race. Who will be the next duck to be on the end of Bluefeathers tongue!

After Captain Quack regained his title from Mangebill yesterday, today’s race promises to be another action-packed affair, writes Leroy Black. With an expectant crowd already building let’s take a look at the ducks ahead of today’srace.
The Daring Dabbler faces an uphill task to return to form today, after suffering an emotional heartbreak yesterday. After the Scarlet Mallard betrayed him it will be difficult for him to recover emotionally in time for today’s race. If he is to win today it will surely go down as one of the most spectacular comebacks in Duck Racing history.
Mangebill, who lost his crown yesterday, needs to focus on his racing once more, after his form was clearly affected by his decision to launch his own clothing brand. Mangebill perhaps let his success go to his head, and perhaps need to return to his quiet manner that served him so well in the past. He looked to have rediscovered his old self at practice this morning, once again refusing interviews and keeping himself to himself.
Captain Quack, the reigning champ, was in bouyant mood this morning, claiming that today he would once again be victorious. If he can repeat his performance of yesterday he will be very hard to beat. However after previous victories Captain Quack has taken his bill off the ball, and allowed his crown to slip. Will that be the case today?
Bluefeathers has been very consistent of late. Unfortuantely for him and his fans he has been consistently finishing second or third, rather than claiming his first win of the season. The Old Master, who knows the lake like the back of his wing, looked fresh this morning and ready to race. Despite his failure to win so far this season there is no doubt he will have his supporters again today.
The Scarlet Mallard can expect a mixed reaction when she races today from the capacity Shoal Lake crowd, after her cruel treatment of the Daring Dabbler yesterday. Whilst this will have endeared her further to her male fans, who knows what the reaction will be from the Daring Dabbler’s army of supporters? The Scarlet Mallard, likeBluefeathers, is still looking for her first victory of the season, and has every chance today.

Captain Quack at the Double!
Captain Quack claimed victory in a hostile race down at Shoal Lake today, overshadowed by an attack on theScarlet Mallard by an enraged Daring Dabbler fan as she arrived at the lake. The attack, believed to have been fuelled by the Scarlet Mallard’s treatment of the Daring Dabbler, left the Scarlet Mallard’s feathers ruffled, but she was able to take her place in the line up.
The attack did not seem to affect her too badly as she was able to finish second, just ahead of Mangebill back in third. The Daring Dabbler came in fourth, whilst Bluefeathers faltered to finish a distant last.
The Daring Dabbler said after the race that he was ashamed by the actions of his fans. ‘I would advise my fans to stay classy, like the duck they all adore -the Daring Dabbler‘ he quacked.
Bluefeathers also blamed his poor performance on the dramatic event before the race, saying he was upset by the fans and that he couldn’t concentrate on the race after hearing of the assault.
Mangebill said he ‘wasn’t interested’ in the attack, and was only interested in his own performance. He promised fans he would be back to top form tomorrow and apologised for his race today.
So the huge news today is the attack on the Scarlet Mallard by an angry Daring Dabbler fan. Vice-Chief of the DRA Rupert Quackington-Smythe said the ramifications of this attack could be wide ranging, but praised the Daring Dabbler’s response. All in all it has been a black day for Duck Racing.

Today sees another duck race down at the Shoal Lake, and after the drama of yesterdays race the crowd are hopeful of another exciting battle. With Captain Quack defending his title against his four foes it is sure to be a fiercely contested race for victory.
Captain Quack arrived at the lake first, and spent much of his time signing autographs and posing for photos with his fans. His fan favourite status has been challenged this season, noticeably by Mangebill and the Daring Dabbler, but after a couple of wins he is once again the ‘idol of the lake’. Captain Quack looked sharp in practice, and said afterwards he was in ‘tip-top condition’.
The Daring Dabbler looked really up for today’s race, and told reporters that he had moved on from the Scarlet Mallard. If the Daring Dabbler can rediscover his form from earlier this season he will be a strong contender for today’s event. He certainly looked to have found his finest form in training, and it would be no surprise to see him return to winning ways again today.
Mangebill is also seeking to return to the winners enclosure today, after slipping in recent races. Mangebill arrived in his Mangebill official merchandise, and looked the part in his brief training session. Mangebill also confirmed that he is to give an exclusive interview to the Shoal Times in the near future, in which he will explain his enigmatic demeanour.
The Scarlet Mallard still looked to be suffering from the attack on her yesterday, and looked timid in her practice. The ‘darling of the lake’ has a difficult task in trying to break her duck this season today. With the majority of the crowd now turned against her she would be an unpopular winner today.
Bluefeathers trained furiously today after a disappointing performance yesterday. With a steely determined look in his eye, perhaps today could be the day he gets his beak in front. His loyal fans will certainly be hoping so. ‘I am a champion, my time will come’, said the veteran Old Master.

Daring Dabbler Quack With A Bang
The Daring Dabbler returned to form spectacularly today with a stunning victory at the Shoal Lake, writes Leroy Black. Just days after having his young heart broken by the Scarlet Mallard the young ‘green machine’ romped to victory in a new track record time. Showing blistering speed from start to finish only Captain Quack was able to keep pace with the Daring Dabbler, finishing a valiant second. Back in third place was Bluefeathers, but he never troubled the first two.
In what proved to be a two-duck race, Captain Quack took the early lead, but was quickly overtaken by the Daring Dabbler. As the leaders passed through Cuckoo Corner Captain Quack retook the lead, and looked set for victory until the Daring Dabbler surged past him in the last few metres.
Mangebill could face action from the DRA after lashing out at the Scarlet Mallard, opening up the wounds from her recent assault. Mangebill seemed to hit the Scarlet Mallard for no reason, and was heard quietly quacking to himself as he left the lake. This was an unsavoury incident, and is further proof that Mangebill may not be all he seems. Let’s hope all will be revealed in his exclusive interview, coming soon!
The Scarlet Mallard was unable to threaten the leaders and had to settle for fourth place. The ‘darling of the lake’ is still looking for her first win of the season. Mangebill was last, but his fans still cheered him out of the lake, seemingly approving of his violent outburst.
Bluefeathers was reluctant to criticise Mangebill, saying one should not criticise a duck who has had such a traumatic life. ‘Who knows what goes on in his head?’ said the Old Master.

Well race fans, today’s event is sure to be yet another thrilling spectacle filled with aquatic mayhem. After the sensational victory of the Daring Dabbler yesterday, will anyone be able to top that performance today? The Shoal Lake is even more packed than normal today, with a new record crowd in attendance, so let’s have a look at the racers, and analyse their chances today.
The reigning champ the Daring Dabbler looks a new duck after his victory yesterday, and arrived at the lake with a broad smile across his beak. After the emotional torment of earlier in the week, the Daring Dabbler is now back to his best, and will be hard to beat this afternoon. The Daring Dabbler told fans before the race ‘thankyou for all your support, I don’t know how I would have coped without you guys’ – to huge cheers from the DDD’s.
Mangebill arrived in his now customary purple training gear, and was booed by several Scarlet Mallard fans after yesterdays callous attack on the ‘darling of the lake’. Mangebill ignored these fans, instead focusing on the the practice session with his coach. After two straight victories, Mangebill has lost form recently, but with such an enigmatc duck, who knows when he will bounce back. Maybe today will be the day he gets his beak back in front.
Bluefeathers is still looking for his first win of the season, and has rarely looked like achieving it so far. A couple of second places have been his best results, and some reporters have suggested old father time is finally catching up with the Old Master. Bluefeathers has proven in the past that age is no barrier, but is it time to start thinking about retirement, or even a coaching role? One thing is certain, a victory for the old chap today would cause jubilation for the Shoal Lake crowd.
The Scarlet Mallard has had a torrid time of it lately, and a victory still has not come her way this season. Her mentor and relative, The Mahogany Mallard has spoke out over her rough treatment, quacking ‘my girl has been the victim of some unsportsducklike behaviour, the DRA need to do something’. Many fans however feel her treatment of the Daring Dabbler justifies her unpopularity and she was again booed and pelted with fruit as she approached the lake for practice. A win for her would be a horrible result for the majority of the Shoal Lake crowd.
Captain Quack, in second place in the overall standings, has had a good season, and will look to build on that today. He arrived at practice with a chick on each arm and looked very pleased with himself, although how this went down with his rivals is not known. Captain Quack quacked ‘Now is my time’. The self-proclaimed ‘Golden Boy’ of duck racing looks set for a challenge today, and only a brave man would bet against him returning to winning ways.

‘Silent Bullet’ Speeds To Victory
Mangebill took the glory in today’s duck race down at the Shoal Lake, in front of a new record crowd, writes Leroy Black. Labelled a ‘joke’ and a ‘fool’ by the Mahogany Mallard in the build-up to the race, Mangebill proved he was worth his place at Shoal Lake by romping to victory, just ahead of Bluefeathers and Captain Quack. Mangebill took a swipe at the Mahogany Mallard, now the coach of his daughter the Scarlet Mallard, in his post-race interview, quacking ‘when I look at the Mahogany Mallard, I see an old man – he is the only joke at this track – I pity the fool!’
Bluefeathers also mocked the Mahogany Mallard, saying ‘the old boy was a great racer, but he should keep his beak out of modern racing, he’s had his time, his eggs are cooked’. Bluefeathers was not feeling to blue with his own performance, and was close to breaking his duck for the season by taking a first win.
Captain Quack was back in third, and seemed more interested in showing off to his pair of young chicks he brought to the lake today. Waving mid-race to the fans, Captain Quack did not seem too bothered with actually winning the race. After the raace he said ‘I’ve got bigger fish to fry really, these duck races are just one of my many appearances these days’. Such a poor attitude has been seen from Captain Quack before, and maybe it’s time for the DRA to finally take action against the ‘Golden Boy’.
The Daring Dabbler and the Scarlet Mallard finished fourth and fifth, but performed well. The Scarlet Mallard, officially the worst duck this season, had to be led away from the lake by Shoal Police escort, as the hatred for her has reached new levels, with the crowd spouting vitriolic bile at her throughout. Her much maligned coach / father, the Mahogany Mallard, was also battered by rotten fruit from the Shoal Lake faithful.
The Daring Dabbler blamed his performance on tiredness, which is understandable after his incredible raceyesterday. He was quick to criticise Captain Quack, saying ‘it’s about time they did something to stop that idiot making a mockery of duck racing – he’s a disgrace. Still I suppose having your uncle in the DRA sure helps!’
So yet another day’s action draws to a close and there is plenty to talk about for the duck racing fans of Shoal. Will Captain Quack be punished by the DRA? Will the Daring Dabbler be punished for his claims of nepotism in the DRA? Will Bluefeathers finally win a race?
Only one way to find out race fans, see you tomorrow, same time, same place!

After a controversial race yesterday, all eyes are once again on the Shoal Lake for today’s daily race. Reigning champion Mangebill will defend his titla against the familiar quartet of Bluefeathers, the Daring Dabbler, theScarlet Mallard and Captain Quack.
The build-up to today’s race has been dominated by specualtion regarding the DRA’s investigations of both Captain Quack and the Daring Dabbler. Nothing has been announced yet by anyone from the DRA, but there are whispers at the lake suggesting that Captain Quack’s close relationship with the DRA will once again see him escape punishment. The Daring Dabbler however may not be so lucky after he sensationally spoke out against the DRA.
Back to matters in the lake, and it was Bluefeathers who arrived first to practice. Looking like the Bluefeathers of old, the Old Master was in fine form, paying particular attention to his sluggish starts that have caused him problems in previous races. Afterwards he quacked ‘I feel the best I have this season, maybe there is some life in the Old Master yet’.
Captain Quack declared on arrival that ‘the Golden Boy is above duck racing’ – a statement greeted by both cheers and boos. The first duck to really transcend the sport, Captain Quack is becoming more and more known for his other ventures, including advertising feather products. He has generally raced well this season, and must be respected once more this afternoon.
The Scarlet Mallard looked ready to claim her first victory in her light training session this morning, under the watchful gaze of the Mahogany Mallard. ‘The Wing Wizzard’ seems to be at his daughter’s side at all times now, clearly trying to protect her after what has been a difficult week for the ‘darling of the lake’.
Reigning champ Mangebill did not show up for practice this morning. Rumours around the lake suggest that a night of wild partying has left the ‘Silent Bullet’ a little worse for wear, and his performance today could be hindered. However Mangebill is in fine form at the moment, and it would be foolish to rule him out. The enigma could yet strike victory once again.
The Daring Dabbler spent much of his practice session speaking to the Shoal media about the pending investigations by the DRA. The Daring Dabbler quacked ‘I am the duck of the people, I stand up for freedom of speech – it is my mission to rid this sport of corruption and bias’. This could land him in further trouble, and it is safe to say this duck could end up in hot water very soon.
So there you have it race fans, the scene is set for today’s racing extravaganza – 4 35 PST – be there!

Old Master Rolls Back The Years
Bluefeathers rolled back the years today to win his first race of the duck racing season down at the Shoal Lake, writes Leroy Black. After getting a great start the younder competitors were unable to catch the Old Master, as he took a deserved victory. The crowd at Shoal Lake were delighted with Bluefeathers return to form, however a section of the crowd seemed more interested in the ongoing scadal in the DRA, shouting ‘Sack Kwakk’ throughout the race. The ‘Sack Kwakk’ campaign, started by the enigmatic Mangebill seems to have caught on amongst the fans, and Leopold von Kwakk’s position is beginning to look untenebale.
It was the Daring Dabbler who took second place, with Mangebill back in third. Both ducks used their post-raceinterviews to further criticise the DRA, and thank the crowd for their ‘Sack Kwakk’ shouts. The Daring Dabblergave his backing to the campaign, and encouraged the Scarlet Mallard and Bluefeathers to help too.
The Scarlet Mallard finished fourth, however this was a much improved performance from the ‘darling of the lake’, who seems to be gradually recovering from the emotional trials and tribulations of earlier in the week. She said afterwards that she had ‘matured as a racer’, and thanked her grandfather, the Burgundy Mallard, for helping her thorugh these troubled times.
Captain Quack finished last in another lacklustre performance. He was also unable to give interviews as he had to leave immediately to film a bread commercial. Once again Captain Quack letting down his fans and those who made him famous – surely the DRA can let this go on no longer.
The DRA are due to make an announcement soon regarding the status of Leopold von Kwakk, and the ongoing cases against Mangebill and the Daring Dabbler for bringing the sport into disrepute.
However the day really belongs to the old stalwart Bluefeathers, who spoke with joy after winning his first racethis season. ‘I am so glad to take victory, and I thank my fans for sticking by me through this bad time for me. I also dedicate this to the heroes of ‘78, let us never forget’. Always gracious in victory, Bluefeathers reminded fans that racing was ultimately just a game, and that as we saw in ‘78, treating it too seriously has disastrous consequences.

Greetings race fans for another day of top quality racing from down the Shoal Lake. After wins for Bluefeathersand Captain Quack over the weekend their rivals will look to steal victory today. As ever, Leroy Black has been down to the lake to watch the practice session, so let’s take a look at each duck and their chances today.
Bluefeathers looks a new duck since breaking his duck over recent days. After some had questioned the Old Master, he has silenced his critics with marvellous victories. Today at practice he looked primed and ready for another tough battle, and when Bluefeathers is in this kind of mood you can never write him off.
Captain Quack seems to have sorted his life out outside the lake, and seems to once again be taking his racing a lot more seriously. After his uncle Leopold von Kwakk resigned from the DRA, Captain Quack must now behave better, or face the DRA’s new president, Quack Frost. With his new focus, Captain Quack will be hard to beat this afternoon.
The Daring Dabbler has not been performing to the peak of his abilities in recent days, but looked back to his old self in the lake this morning. The Green Machine can now forget about the scandal surrounding his investigation by the DRA and concentrate on taking back his title. Now only the 2nd most successful duck this season, theDaring Dabbler will be keen to reclaim top spot, and will hope to start by winning today.
The Scarlet Mallard has yet to win this season, and will look to take her debut victory in today’s race. With the Shoal Lake crowd turning against her the odds are stacked against the ‘darling of the lake’, but with the guidance of her family she could make a challenge today. Her few remaining fans will no doubt cheer her on, despite the boos that echo her every move around the lake.
Mangebill has been remarkably quiet in recent days, even by his own standards. In his exclusive interview with the Shoal Times, due to be released on Tuesday, Mangebill hints at what it is that has led him to become the enigma that he is. Despite being only the 3rd most succesful duck this season Mangebill has acquired a cult hero status with his army of purple fans, and with their support he will be a big contender for today’s race.

Quack Takes The Gold
Captain Quack continued his remarkable season by taking victory in today’s Shoal Lake contest, writes Leroy Black. Already the most successful duck this season, Captain Quack is looking to establish the kind of dominance not seen in the lake for many years. Captain Quack seems to be concentrating on racing once again, and is reaping the rewards of his new focus. He said afterwards his love of country music has helped him return to top form.
Bluefeathers came in second place, despite being in last place for much of the race. He delivered a burst of pace in the final few metres, but ultimately was not quick enough to catch the Golden Boy. Bluefeathers said he was proud of his performance, and that he was happy with the appointment of Quack Frost as President of the DRA.
The Scarlet Mallard came in third, with a much improved performance. If she can maintain this form it will surely be a matter of time until she is victorious. As she left the lake to whistles from her male fans, the Scarlet Mallardtold reporters of her love for classical music.
Mangebill left the lake furios with himself after a poor performance, finishing a distant last. Mangebill seemed angry that some of his fans have now abandoned him for the beautiful Scarlet Mallard. Yet again Mangebillrefused to speak to reporters after the race, instead stormed off listening to Jumpin’ Quack Flash.
The Daring Dabbler also let himself down with a poor effort, but vowed to improve tomorrow. There is a sense of maturity about the Daring Dabbler these days, and if he learns from the errors of Captain Quack he has a bright future in duck racing.

The reigning champ turned up for training looking fine tuned and ready to go. There is a new sense of focus fromCaptain Quack ever since Quack Frost took the role as DRA President, and when he is on top of his game there really is no better sight in duck racing. Captain Quack himself said ‘I just want people to realise I am the big duck, I quack loudest round here’.
The Scarlet Mallard again arrived at the lake to a chorus of boos from the Shoal crowd. The darling of the lake has had a troubled time of it over the last few weeks, and has really struggled to find any consistent form. She told reporters today she wanted to thank her fans ‘for sticking by her’, however the vast majority of her fans seem to have deserted her. The Scarlet Mallard is the only duck yet to win this season, and it will be a surprise if she breaks her duck today.
The Daring Dabbler is perhaps the only duck who can challenge Captain Quack on the best of his form. He has not been at the beak of his powers in recent days, but is always capable of a victory. The green machine quacked ‘I feel good today, get your bets on me I wont let you down!’ Rarely has the Daring Dabbler oozed such confidence, and perhaps it would indeed be wise to select him.
Bluefeathers has finally returned to his finest form in recent days, after a bad start to the season. The Old Master looks capable of adding to his tally of victories today, and certainly looked as sharp as ever this morning at practice. As determined as ever, the future hall of famer will no doubt be a threat today.
Mangebill looked a mess at practice this morning, looking as if he had not yet recovered from the emotional trauma of his exclusive interview with Leroy Black in this morning’s Shoal Times. Who knows how the enigma will perform today? It certainly looks like his inner demons are getting the better of him at the moment, but who knows, the Silent Bullet could yet take victory.
So there you have it fans, place your bets, and get down to the Shoal Lake for today’s race – 4 35 PST!

Mangebill Strikes Victory
In a surprising result Mangebill took victory in today’s race down at Shoal Lake, writes Leroy Black. Despite breaking down this morning during an interview with Leroy Black, the silent bullet was able to overcome his inner demons and his rivals to steal the glory. As his loyal followers chanted his name Mangebill again broke down in tears as he left the water, clearly showing that mentally he is still suffering.
Bluefeathers came a close second, with the Daring Dabbler just back in third place. These two were always up there throughout the race, with the Scarlet Mallard and Captain Quack sat just behind. However none were able to cope with an extraordinarily determined Mangebill.
Bluefeathers said he was happy for his purple rival, whilst Captain Quack admitted he had been beaten by a betterduck today.
The Daring Dabbler quacked ‘no duck could have beaten Mangebill today, he was inspired’. The Scarlet Mallard left the lake without commenting, but by the look of her father the Mahogany Mallard’s face, she will be training hard tomorrow morning in a bid to find her first win of the season.
Mangebill is creeping closer to Captain Quack in terms of total wins this season, a remarkable achievement for aduck in his first season racing at Shoal Lake. It is not an easy course to master, but the pruple enigma seems to be doing a masterful job. Clearly still unsettled from his interview this morning Mangebill looked nervous as he paddled to the start line, but as soon as the race started he was back to his old self, winning well.
Quack Frost said he was proud of the good sportsduckship of all ducks in today’s race, and hoped that it would continue. Whether we shall be so lucky is yet to be seen.
So another glorious race ends with an emotional win for Mangebill. Be sure to see if he can retain his crown tomorrow, 4 35 PST down at Shoal Lake!

Greetings duck fans ahead of another battle of speed at the Shoal Lake. We can only hope today’s race is as dramatic and exciting as yesterday’s was, when Mangebill took glory. With all the ducks looking to take the title from the ‘Silent Bullet’, we should be in for another quackker today. Let’s have a look at the ducks in practice and see if there are any clues ahead of the big race.
Mangebill recovered yesterday after the traumatic experience of his interview with Leroy Black, and today he looked a new duck, full of confidence. Kitted out in his official merchandise he arrived promptly to the lake and embarked on the most intense training session he has ever done. Will he be tired for the race, or is he simply at a new level?
Captain Quack also looked pumped up for today’s race, and will seek to increse his overall lead this season. The self-proclaimed Golden Boy of duck racing has been perforing well of late, and is winning back the crowd that used to love him. Captain Quack said ‘I am happy, now I am just a racer again, not a model’. His focus is now on the lake, not the duckwalk.
Bluefeathers has seen it all at the Shoal Lake, from nearly losing his brother Azure Bolt to scrapping with some of the all time greats like the Mahogany Mallard and Whitewebbed. He looked very calm and cool today ahead of the race, and will be a huge threat today.
The Daring Dabbler has not been on top of his game recently, and has fallen further behind Captain Quack in the quest for overall leadership of this season’s table. It came as no surprise to see him arrive with a new coach to this morning’s practice session. What was surprising was that the coach was none other than Teal, the much-maligned racer of years gone by. The two seemed to get on well, and it will be interesting to see if this can inspire the Daring Dabbler to victory.
The Scarlet Mallard, still looking for her first win this season looked exhausted after training, where her father and coach the Mahogany Mallard kept his word to deliver the toughest training she had ever experienced. Some of the crowd appeared to feel sorry for the poor Scarlet Mallard, and the hostility towards her seems to be vanishing quickly. Maybe today could be the day…
So there we have it race fans, another day and another terrific race in prospect.

Old Master Makes Rivals Feel Blue
Despite a nasty scrape down at ‘Breakbill Corner’, the Old Master was able to salvage victory, and push himself further up the overall season ladder today, writes Leroy Black. After his victory, Bluefeathers announced from the winner’s circle that he felt as good as ever, and had no plans to retire just yet.
After a fairly even start, it was Mangebill who led the pack as they approached ‘Cuckoo Corner’. However theDaring Dabbler lived up to his name by choosing the risky ‘Whirlpool of Death’, allowing him to burst into the lead, as all other ducks took the safe route down through ‘Breadmaker’s Alley’. As the Daring Dabbler led them through ‘Breakbill Corner’ the other ducks bunched together, and it was here that Bluefeathers suffered a nasty looking scrape to his bill. As he tried to go around the Scarlet Mallard he appeared to get caught by her furiously flapping left wing.
With the Daring Dabbler’s lead reducing all the time, the other ducks looked to pass him at ‘Brownbill’s Bend’.Captain Quack was the first to pass the Daring Dabbler, with Mangebill quickly taking second. With all the ducks still in contention at this point the crowd were going crazy, roaring their favourites home.
Not for the first time, Bluefeathers made his decisive move at ‘Cavern Corner’, whipping past his rivals and into the lead. With the Daring Dabbler and Mangebill now dropping back it waas left to Captain Quack and the Scarlet Mallard to challenge the Old Master, and despite gaining on him they were unable to pass Bluefeathers.
The Scarlet Mallard eventually finished second, just in front of Captain Quack who finished a respectable third.Mangebill took fourth and the Daring Dabbler, clearly suffering the effects of the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ trailed in last.
The Scarlet Mallard was delighted with her performance, quacking that ‘I only lost to a vintage performance fromBluefeathers today, it reminded me of watching my dad the Mahogany Mallard trying to catch him un Wingflutter Straight’.
Captain Quack also praised the winner, in what was another race run in the true spirit of the sport. This will no doubt delight Quack Frost, who certainly seems to be having a great influence as President of the DRA.

After the Old Master wiped the floor with his rivlas yesterday an expectant crowd have started to gather ahead of todays renewal. With all ducks now having completed their morning training sessions its time to have a look at each duck and see who looks likely to add to their win tally for the season this afternoon!
Mangebill was not at his best yesterday, running out of steam after a powerful start. He appears to be having trouble at ‘Breakbill Corner’, which is putting him out of position before approaching his favourite part of the course, ‘Brownbill’s Bend’. The Silent Bullet told reporters today he was looking at solving this problem, and that once he mastered it he would regain his title.
Captain Quack raced fairly well yesterday, but lacked his usual spark. The Golden Boy has managed to focus on his racing really well of late, and has been a consistent performer. Gone are the days where bread advertisements and feather commercials were his priorities. Captain Quack told reporters this morning that he felt quacking, and that he would be going for gold today.
‘I promise I will win today’ quacked an extremely confident Bluefeathers this morning, ‘I can feel it in my feathers!’ Such confidence is rarely seen from the Old Master, but a run of good form seems to have given him a boost. Clearly there is life in the old duck yet. In such mood he has to be considered a very strong contender today, and if it comes down to a battle down ‘Wingflutter Straight’ you have to think his experience could clinch him victory.
The Scarlet Mallard continued her rigorous training this morning with her father and coach, the Mahogany Mallard. After an improved showing yesterday perhaps this intense practice is what she needs. She quacked ‘I am getting stronger now, soon I will take victory for the Mallard family!’. Whilst it is good to see her feeling so confident, it must be remembered she has yet to win a race this season. Perhaps today could be the day, we will have to wait and see.
The Daring Dabbler gave a poor performance in his first race under the guidance of new coach Teal yesterday. He will hope for an improvement today, and could possibly look to recreate some of Teal’s famous crafty tricks to gain an edge on his rivals. The Daring Dabbler looked nervous in practice, as if he was going to try something pretty big, and refused to comment when reporters asked what he had planned for today’s race.
So all the ducks are ready to race, see you there fans, 4 35 PST!

Old Master As Good As His Word
Having promised his fans victory, Bluefeathers spectacularly delivered the goods with a brethtaking performance down at Shoal Lake this afternoon, writes Leroy Black. The hall-of-famer showed all his class and fighting spirit today, finishing just ahead of a gallant Daring Dabbler and the Scarlet Mallard. Bluefeathers will be going for the hat-trick tomorrow, and it would be no surprise if he was able to chalk up the third straight win.
It was the Scarlet Mallard who raced to the front as the ducks approached ‘Cuckoo Corner’, with all the others closely packed behind. The Scarlet Mallard looked as if she intended to lead all the way to the winning line, but things changed dramatically as the ducks approached the ‘Whirlpool of Death’.
An unprecedented 3 ducks all tried to enter the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ to achieve the slingshot burst of speed.Captain Quack, Mangebill and the Daring Dabbler all paddled towards the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ at top speed, but only one was to reap the rewards. Mangebill and Captain Quack seemed to get tangled up in the vortex, and were sent back towards ‘Cuckoo Corner’ losing ground. The Daring Dabbler however seemed to push himself off the other two ducks, and burst past the Scarlet Mallard and into a clear lead. With two rivals almost out of the race, it looked as though the Daring Dabbler had done enough to secure victory. There seems little doubt that this was the first example of Teal’s influence as coach rubbing off on the Daring Dabbler.
As the Daring Dabbler went through ‘Breakbill’s Corner’ well clear, Bluefeathers drew level with the Scarlet Mallard, and eventually past her as they entered ‘Brownbill’s Bend’, the long sweeping left-winged bend in front of the roaring crowd. It was clear at this point only Bluefeathers could catch the Daring Dabbler.
As Bluefeathers was exiting ‘Brownbill’s Bend’, the Daring Dabbler was already fast approaching ‘Cavern Corner’, and it seemed as though he would be able to hold on to take a precious victory. However the determination ofBluefeathers has seen him become a legend on Shoal Lake, and he was not prepared to settle for second place. Speeding through ‘Cavern Corner’ he was only a metre or so behind the Daring Dabbler, and, in scenes reminiscent of his epic battles with the Mahogany Mallard, he finally overpowered his younger rival in the final few flaps.
The crowd stood to applaud this incredible race, without doubt the finest of the season so far. Bluefeathers made his way to the ‘Winner’s Triangle’, awaiting the trophy from Quack Frost. The Scarlet Mallard was able to finish third, whilst Mangebill and Captain Quack crossed the line together very slowly, realising they could not possibly compete after their accident at the ‘Whirlpool of Death’.

Greetings duck racing fans from across this and any other world in which you may reside! Welcome to the Shoal Lake Racetrack, the home of duck racing for today’s race. The Old Master took victory yesterday, and is looking to make it three in a row today. Will any of his rivals be able to stop Bluefeathers?
Practice this morning was ruined by dreadul conditions, as a storm came in across the lake. Initially it had been thought the race itself may not be run, but Quack Frost quickly declared that the race would take place as usual. However some ducks refused to train this morning in the awful conditions.
The Daring Dabbler was particularly upset by the rain, and refused to enter the lake. His coach, Teal, claimed that his younge protege did not need to train today, as he had a secret tactic that would allow the Daring Dabbler to romp to victory. What this cunnig plan is was kept under wraps by both the Daring Dabbler and Teal, but when a master of skullduggery like Teal comes up with a plan it is worth paying close attention.
Bluefeathers was straight in the lake this morning, not caring at all about the conditions. ‘You think this is rough’ he quacked, ‘you should have been here the day my brother the Azure Bolt nearly lost his life – now THAT was a storm’. The Old Master has seen it all before, and it may be that his knowledge of the course and the conditions will help him complete the hat-trick today.
The Scarlet Mallard looked reluctant to practice, but was again put through a tough training session by her coach and father, the Mahogany Mallard. Still looking to break her duck for the season, the ‘darling of the lake’ has been improving steadily in recent races, and looks sure to challenge today.
Mangebill did not seem to care about, or even notice, the dreadful conditions this morning at practice. Fully kitted in his Mangebill official wet-weather training gear, the Silent Bullet went through his normal routine, before making his way back to the pier. The cult hero has not been on top form of late, however it would be foolish to write off the enigmatic Mangebill.
Captain Quack was another duck who refused to practice in the storm this morning. Casually sitting amongst the fans instead, he remarked ‘they must be quackers to be out practicing in that’. Captain Quack’s attitude has been questioned in the past, and let’s hope that this is not a sign of his old arrogance re-emerging.

Ol’ Bluefeathers Does It Again
In stormy conditions Bluefeathers prevailed, and completed his hat-trick of wins, writes Leroy Black. Only the second duck to achieve three straight wins this season, the Old Master is really showing his class. Unlike yesterday, when Bluefeathers could only grab the lead in ‘Wingflutter Straight’, today’s race was put to bed by a huge accident at ‘Cavern Corner’, leaving Ol’ Bluefeathers to claim glory.
As the ducks approached ‘Cuckoo Corner’ it was Mangebill who held the lead. Controversially wearing his wet-weather training gear, the Silent Bullet was able to withstand the driving rain and surge ahead. The Scarlet Mallard was just behind at this stage, with Captain Quack sitting in third place. What was to happen after ‘Cuckoo Corner’ was to shake up the race entirely.
The Daring Dabbler had told reporters he had a plan, but noone had suspected anything this devious. As the ducks past the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ the Daring Dabbler barged Mangebill down into the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ whilst catapulting himself alongside the Scarlet Mallard. Mangebill eventually re-surfaced, gasping for air. Meanwhile as the ducks approached ‘Breakbill Corner’ the Daring Dabbler hurtled into the Scarlet Mallard, crushing her against the rocky shore. The Scarlet Mallard was now also out of contention, and the Daring Dabbler had a huge lead.
Captain Quack was now in second, with Bluefeathers gaining ground in third. As the race reached ‘Brownbill’s Bend’ the field began to bunch, with all three ducks looking like possible winners. The Daring Dabbler seemed to gesture to the crowd as he passed in front of the pontoon, and immediately bread was launched towards Captain Quack. Luckily he managed to avoid the assault, however he did lose ground and Bluefeathers took second place.
With the Daring Dabbler looking assured of victory a huge wave swept across the lake, smashing him into ‘Cavern Corner’. As he was tossed into the air by the angry waters, Bluefeathers took the lead. As the Daring Dabblercame down he landed right on top of Captain Quack, right in front of the crowds packed alongside ‘Wingflutter Straight’. Bluefeathers easily paddled over the line and headed to the ‘Winner’s Triangle’ for the third time in a row.
Captain Quack managed to take second place, with the Daring Dabbler taking third. Mangebill gallantly stopped to help the Scarlet Mallard, and the two paddled in together.
The inquest into the behaviour of the Daring Dabbler has already begun, with Quack Frost promising to be firm but fair. Bluefeathers also criticised the ‘green machine’, saying ‘the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ is not to be messed with, my brother nearly drowned in that thing.’ It seems the Daring Dabbler has not taken long to adapt to the ways ofTeal.

Well duck racing fans, what a weekend of racing that was! Now it is all about who will win today, and start the week as champ. Can Captain Quack or the Daring Dabbler recover their form and take another victory? WillBluefeathers continue his excellent form? Could Mangebill win again? Or will the Scarlet Mallard finally break her duck and enter the Winner’s Triangle? As usual, Leroy Black was down at the Shoal Lake this morning to observe practice.
After recent troubles mastering the ‘Whirlpool of Death’ Captain Quack spent most of his training session in that area of the lake, looking to perfect the art. As we have seen, if this move is pulled off it can be hugely advantageous, and so by failing to master it Captain Quack is at a huge disadvantage. The Golden Boy needs a win to get back his confidence, and maybe today he will find one.
Mangebill is no longer a novice around the Shoal Lake track, and is now a serious force to be reckoned with. The Silent Bullet has amassed several victories this season, as well as an adoring fan club. Mangebill has been a little more exuberant than usual over the last few days, and he seems to be more relaxed around the lake than at the start of this, his debut season. Mangebill will take a lot of beating today.
The Scarlet Mallard is still searching for her first win of the season, but has been improving ever since her father and coach, the Mahogany Mallard, put in place a rigorous training regime. ‘The darling of the lake’ seems to be winning back her fans from earlier in the season, and seems to have renewed confidence in herself. The Scarlet Mallard is sure to win soon, and today could well be the day.
Bluefeathers is in the best form of his life, racking up 4 straight wins last week. The Old Master is still as fit as ever, and has been teaching his younger rivals a lesson. After a slight throat injury recently, the Old Master is back to full health today, and will be a significant threat again this afternoon.
The Daring Dabbler has already been warned by Quack Frost over his conduct, and ever since teaming up withTeal has developed a mean streak seen in many great champions. At practice this morning the Daring Dabblerwas in a great mood, quacking along to his favourite gangsta rap as he left the lake. He did however have time to pay tribute to his coach, quacking ‘Teal is a true champion, he will do anything to win!’ In this mood, the green machine is a formidable challenger.
There was a touching moment after practice as all the racers paddled over to the ‘78 memorial flag for a moments silence. Although not an official anniversary, it was nice to see the ducks take time to remember the tragic events.
