Donna just let us know via the MG Forums what is going on with Meteor Games at the moment:
Summary: VPN will get one final update (rumoured to increase level cap and bring new game layout), and will then have work completely stopped on it. VPN will be un-playable for a week or so as their new game, Island Paradise, will cause breakages beyond imagination. Any Meteor Credits bought or earned will be refunded onto your Meteor account, which can be spent across other MG games in the future. TS (Twin Skies) isn’t dead!

“Hey guys
Sorry I meant to post something explaining what was going to happen this week over the weekend, but ending up giving myself concussion and being a bit out of it.
We are launching Island Paradise today (I’ll let Adam post about that later). This means that all the updates and changes we have been working on over the past few weeks are about to go live. As VPN is on the same database and all the new code updates will be copied over to VPN it is going to break in amazing ways, the like of which have never been seen before.
Rather than leave VPN up as a big stinking mess with crazy errors all over the place we have decided to take it down while we try to fix most of them, and at the same time fix all the bugs with Island Paradise.
This means that VPN will be down for Facebook and web players for the near future. We are estimating to have VPN back within a week, although it really depends just how many things break. We honestly wont know that until we have the Island game live.
When VPN comes back up we will try to do one last update, but we will not be able to continue updating it. Sadly we are a really small team now and have to focus on our new game. Its not that we dont love VPN, we are very sad about this, but we just dont have enough people to continue working on it like we were.
We are proud of VPN, we managed to do things in a browser that nobody else has, which is pretty cool! Sadly VPN wasnt the massive hit we were hoping for, it was just too complex for social networks. We need to focus on making money as a company. Maybe in the future we will be able to revisit VPN, maybe make it more graphical, and make a few tweaks so it makes more sense as a web game. We want to try to keep VPN available for you to play, but we will just have to see how that goes.
We do really appreciate you all supporting us and understand this is not exactly happy news for you all. We want to try to be as fair as possible, if you have bought any meteor credits, or earned meteor credits through participating in offers, you will have them refunded to your account and be able to spend them on any of our new games.
I really don’t want to be all doom and gloom, we are genuinely really excited about Island Paradise and hope you can wish us well with that.
Adam is very sad about VPN. He really wants to make a crazy RPG, so one of those is definitely coming in the future and TS is definitely not dead, we just need time and we will get there!”
