Major VPN Updates

After a week of VPN being in beta, there has just been the first major update. Lots of new features, and bug fixes, of which I’m sure your favourite is the decrease in energy renewal time from 20 minutes to 15. It’s not a lot, but definitely better than before.

Quick summary of updates straight from the VPN home page:

  • Ability to create up to three characters.
  • Delete characters.
  • UNIQUE character names (you can request a name change if you want).
  • Energy refill down to 15 minutes. Timer shows how long left to wait.
  • No level restrictions on pets.
  • You can add friends by just typing in their name.
  • You can boost a friend’s energy levels once every half hour.

Entire patch notes as of Saturday March 28th 2009: (Prepare yourself for a lot of reading)

Achievements For All Games

Achievements for Makewords will be released on Makewords. The same system of achievements will be rolled out across Meteor Games in the future. Here is a message from Donna on the specifics:

“Monday we will be releasing achievements on Makewords. We are creating a universal achievement system that will be used for all our games (including VPN and Twin Skies).
This doesn’t mean you will have the same achievements in all games, that would be boring. But if you earn an achievement in one game, it is linked to any other achievements you earn from Meteor Games activities. That means there is one central pool of points that you earn, and you can show off how great you are at Twin Skies and word games for example.

Currently Makewords is only on Facebook, but if you have a Facebook account we would really appreciate any help you can give with testing the achievement system as it is really the achievement system for all our games!

Donna”
